tshirtThe official Bicentennial t-shirt was unveiled by Commissioner Mary Ann Enloe at the Bicentennial Kick-off Commissioners’ meeting on January 7. Designed to commemorate Haywood County’s 200-year history, the t-shirt is wearable art with the Bicentennial logo designed by Tavia Thomas, graphic designer of Rikki Tikki Tees. The t-shirts were produced by Richard Thomas of Rikki Tikki Tees of Waynesville.

Bicentennial t-shirts can be purchased at the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce, 591 N. Main Street, Waynesville, 456-3021 or at Haywood Community Connections, 81 Elmwood, in the Haywood County Office Building, 452-2370.

The price for the t-shirt is $16; larger sizes are slightly higher.

Special orders are being taken for organizations desiring identifying information on the back of the t-shirts. For $1 per shirt and a minimum order of 36 shirts, organizations can customize information on the back of the t-shirts. Discounts are offered on orders of 100 or more shirts. For group orders, contact John Geers, 627-1697 or Ginger Lang, 627-3069.

The Bicentennial t-shirt project was organized by Haywood Community Connections, a grant project of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. All proceeds from t-shirt sales go directly to Haywood Community Connections to provide needed community services to senior adults. The commemorative design by Tavia Thomas and set-up and screens by Richard Thomas, both of Rikki Tikki Tees, were donated to Haywood Community Connections in the spirit of community collaboration in support of the senior adults of Haywood County.
