James V. Brown Library
http://www.jvbrown.edu/grants.html
There is a vast wealth of information on the Internet about how to write grants. One of the
best I’ve seen is the “Writing Grants” section of the James V. Brown Library, located at the
above web site. Find it by first clicking on “Nonprofit Resource Center”, then on the left hand side click on “grants information” and finally “Writing Grants. The site contains links, tips
and articles that explain clearly and simply the basic outline of a grant and how to “flesh out”
your idea into a proposal. The link to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, for example,
provides invaluable grantwriting tips, including how to outline proposals, how to contact the
funder, and how to create a good budget. Other links include a grantwriting tutorial, a guide to
proposal writing, and a free Microsoft Access database for tracking proposal and grant status.
